Blade Essentials.
This starter pack contains three of the most popular wide clipper blades used in professional pet salons. These include #7F (3.2mm), #5F (6.4mm) and #4F (9.5mm), enabling you to tackle a variety of different lengths and styles, according to season or client preference. If you’re looking to create longer styles, switch to the Mastercut range of wide attachment combs, combined with a bespoke #30w blade.
How do I use them?
Mastercut blades are easy to use, thanks to their convenient snap-on design. Simply attach the blade to the clippers open ‘hinge assembly’ and, snap-it firmly shut whilst the clipper is running. When you need to swap blades, switch the clipper off and, depress the ‘latch’, which sits directly beneath the hinge. With the latch held in, open the hinge assembly by pressing firmly against the cutting edge of the blade.
What else should I know?
Mastercut blades come in a variety of sizes, intended to cut hair at different lengths. According to breed standard or style, several blades may be needed to achieve the desired look. With so many different blades to choose from, the numbering system can get confusing. So, always remember, the higher blade number, the shorter or closer it will cut. For example #30 (0.5mm), #7F (3.2mm), 3F (13mm).
Over time, clipper blades can struggle to cut clean and sharp. This is usually caused by frictional heat and, a lack of lubrication, causing their teeth to soften and become dull. If and when this happens, simply replace the blade or have it re-sharpened by a specialist service provider. To save money and reduce overheads, you can re-sharpen Mastercut clipper blades several times before needing to replace them.
A few final words of advice.
Like other precision cutting instruments, dog clipper blades demand suitable care and attention to keep them in good working order. As such, we recommend the following:
- Always clean and oil your clipper blades after use and, consider storing them a protective case or wallet to avoid damaging your equipment.
- Avoid using clipper blades on dirty or greasy coats. These often harbour fine particles and contaminates, which act like abrasives and can quickly dull the cutting blade.
- To help create volume and structure in the coat, consider using a scissoring spray. This will help you attain a more uniform clipping height and improved coat texture.
