Features :
Curved dog grooming scissors are an ideal cutting tool for creating roundness and circularity. In use, it is particularly useful for creating cylindrical legs, rounded feet, Poodle top knots, pom-poms and bracelets. Compared with a straight scissor, it is a more efficient tool, demanding less time and effort to achieve results. Like straight scissors, they are available in different sizes, determined by blade length. Choose longer length scissors for general contouring and shaping and shorter lengths for meticulous detail.
This curved scissor measures 7.25″ (18cm) in length and can be used to create a variety of breed trims and styles. It has fully convex hollow-ground blades for precision cutting and a ‘ball-bearing’ tension system for super smooth operation. The handle style is ergonomic by design, made to enhance comfort, handling and control. Finally, it has a titanium veneer for maximum durability and a more attractive appearance.
At the heart of this scissor is an intricate tension system designed to maintain smooth cutting performance. It helps eliminate friction between the cutting blades and can also help reduce hand fatigue caused by repetitive motion. It is an essential feature for any petstylist using scissors on a regular daily basis, helping the scissors glide effortlessly through coat with power and precision.
Advice :
To help prevent hand fatigue and the risk of injury, operate the scissor by placing your thumb and third (ring) finger through the holes provided. If you have smaller hands, you may wish to consider fitting ‘inserts’ to accommodate slender fingers and thumbs. To achieve the best finish, always remove hair in small amounts. This will help you avoid mistakes and any stepped changes in hair length and texture.
Convex cutting blades are razor sharp but, also extremely delicate. To avoid damaging them, regularly monitor blade tension and, adjust accordingly to avoid grinding the blades or catching teeth. The pivot screw enables you to do this without tools, applying incremental pressure until moving parts are firm but not tight. A few drops of oil near the pivot point will also help keep the blades running smooth.
Finally, never use convex scissors to cut dirty or greasy coats. These can harbour fine grit particles and contaminates, which will damage and quickly dull the cutting blades.
Useful Tips :
- Use Mastercut Scissoring Spray to help improve your cutting technique. This useful tool spray imparts light hold to stabilise the coat for more accurate cutting and blending. It brushes out easily with no sticky residue, to reveal cleaner lines and contours.
- Use a storage wallet or case to protect your scissors when not in use. Personal scissor collections can amount to hundreds (sometimes thousands) of pounds so, it’s wise and sensible to protect your investment.
