Andis Excel Cordless Clipper (2-Speed)
The Andis Excel cordless is one of the smallest clippers we’ve seen and, claims to be 25% lighter than comparable models. Despite its compact design, it still offers variable blade speed and, is fully compatible with Andis UltraEdge and CeramicEdge detachable blades. Our only criticism of its design, is the lack of a charging stand which, basically means you’ll need to plug it in whenever it needs recharging. Thankfully, the charging time is pretty quick and, if you’re in rush, you can also use it as a ‘corded’ clipper. If you’re thinking of upgrading from a slower clipper, you may want to consider using ‘ceramic’ blades. This will help control blade surface temperature, particularly when using the clipper at high speed.
Features & Benefits:
The best feature of the Andis Excel is undoubtedly its ability to switch from cordless to corded operation. So, if the clipper loses power in middle of a crucial clipping task, you can quickly attach the adaptor cord to continue use in corded operation. It’s worth noting that, even at slow speed, the Andis Excel cordless is as fast as some rival clippers. As such, we recommend using the higher speed intermittently, in order to prevent blades from overheating and, to prolong the life of wearable parts. The Andis Excel comes complete with a #10 ‘ceramic’ detachable blade, which is designed to run cool and retain sharp cutting edges for longer. Whilst this blade is relatively close cutting (1.5mm), it can still be used in a variety of clipping tasks, including use with guards and comb attachments.

Does it need servicing?
Like most electrical appliances, occasional maintenance and servicing are essential to keep the product working properly. Some tasks may demand the experience and skills of a technician, whilst others can be tackled by the owners themselves. If the clipper is in frequent, daily use, we recommend having it examined by an approved Andis service agent every 12-18 months. In between these times, owners should monitor the condition of wearable parts and, replace these as and when required.
